Duncan Kennedy, President of Mobigardens - Moderator
Duncan Kennedy is President of Mobigardens, a producer and distributor of made-for-mobile movies, based in Toronto. In 2006 the company created “Mobifest”, the world’s largest independent mobile film festival. Current sponsors of Mobifest include Nokia, Nestle, and Microsoft. Previously Mr. Kennedy was employed at Apple Computer where he managed the QuickTime product line, Apple Computer’s multimedia architecture. In this capacity he initiated QuickTime for Windows, the most widely distributed software product in Apple history.
Anurag Thakur, Nokia Marketing Manager - Speaker
Focuses on new technology introduction with Canadian operators. Anurag brings more than 20 years of Global experience in wireless industry. He has worked with Siemens,Qualcomm,Motorola,Fujitsu and Nortel in various roles. Prior to joining Nokia, Anurag has worked with startup companies in Bay area for products which were sold in Europe and North America. He has played a defining role in Nokia Canada's business development work since joining the company in 2005. His area of expertise is networks,applications,services and mobile. He has participated and spoken in conferences and seminars in North America.
Adrienne Clapperton, BITE TV - Speaker
Adrienne Clapperton is the Director of Digital Platforms for GlassBOX Television. GlassBOX Television Inc. owns and operates cross-platform digital broadcast and VOD channels. Adrienne is responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of the GlassBOX digital strategies. Adrienne led the GlassBOX media charge by creating and developing both the BITE & AUX online presence while remaining responsible for content distribution via all media platforms. Adrienne’s insight into the multimedia universe and ability to identify trends appealing to the targeted demographic, make her a key player in the GlassBOX network.
Ben Murray - Speaker
Ben Murray grew up in the small town of Coboconk, Ontario and holds a BA in Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto. He served as a programmer at the Toronto International Film Festival for several years, curating work for initiatives such as the Canadian Short Film Showcase, the Student Film Showcase and the Festival itself. His MONKEY TRILOGY received an honourable mention at MobiFest 2006. WOOKIE AT WORK, his first live-action short film has screened at several film festivals in Canada, including the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, Calgary Film Festival and the Just for Laughs Film Festival. Most recently, in his role as Director of Business
Affairs at Serendipity Point Films he has worked on the feature films FUGITIVE PIECES, EASTERN PROMISES and the upcoming BARNEY’S VERSION among others
Amar Varma - Speaker
Amar has worked extensively in technology and investment in both Canada and the US for well over a decade. After serving in various engineering and marketing roles in Silicon Valley, Amar returned to Canada to focus his expertise as a Director at tech fund management firm, Vengrowth Capital Partners. In 2007 Amar used his diverse experience in both large public tech firms and fledgling start-ups, to co-found Toronto’s Xtreme Labs – currently a leading developer of web, social media and mobile applications. Encompassing the entire chain of mobile video distribution, from media companies and carriers, to the technology companies themselves, Xtreme Labs makes mobile video a reality for its clients. Amar is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Electrical Engineering.
